Will the additional cost of $5 for iBooks vs Amazon books stop you from buying books from Apple? For me, it's yes and no. If it's a novel or text heavy, I'll probably buy the books from Amazon and use their iPhone apps on the iPad. However, for books that are graphics in nature, you bet I'm going to spend the additional money and buy them from Apple. What about you?

Macmillan CEO on Amazon deletepocalypse a statement on the Amazon deletion of an appreciable fraction of all of English literature from its store. He confirms that this is a strong- arm tactic in a pricing war. ( via Making Light)

Default Amazon Gives In, Will Sell eBooks On Macmillan's Terms

This is great for Macmillan and bad for consumers. As it normally goes, the squeakiest wheel gets the most attention and indeed it did.

Amazon gave into Macmillan, and will switch to a pricing model that sees bestseller and new hardcover releases offered to customers between $12.99 to $14.99. The official statement is as follows:
Dear Customers:

Macmillan, one of the "big six" publishers, has clearly communicated to us that, regardless of our viewpoint, they are committed to switching to an agency model and charging $12.99 to $14.99 for e-book versions of bestsellers and most hardcover releases.

We have expressed our strong disagreement and the seriousness of our disagreement by temporarily ceasing the sale of all Macmillan titles. We want you to know that ultimately, however, we will have to capitulate and accept Macmillan's terms because Macmillan has a monopoly over their own titles, and we will want to offer them to you even at prices we believe are needlessly high for e-books. Amazon customers will at that point decide for themselves whether they believe it's reasonable to pay $14.99 for a bestselling e-book. We don't believe that all of the major publishers will take the same route as Macmillan. And we know for sure that many independent presses and self-published authors will see this as an opportunity to provide attractively priced e-books as an alternative.

Kindle is a business for Amazon, and it is also a mission. We never expected it to be easy!

Thank you for being a customer.

How about learning how to not double-post before running off at the mouth, Einstein. Mac iPod copy If true, I am very glad for carrier choices for the iPhone. I live in a small town and most of the city has decent AT&T and Verizon coverage except where I live there is neither. The AT&T MicroCell is my lifesaver in our home so I am staying with AT&T for sure. The MicroCell is a wonderful product that all my neighbors now own as well.

Will be interesting to see what problems the white iPhone has, prox sensor, light-proof, fade in the sun, paint issues, antenna attenuation. Please test and let us know. avi to dvd Wait, what? Apple TV? Since this is not a device on the Internet for developers, Apple has no beta version of the new OS for Apple TV released. In fact, they usually only spring, the new version of the operating system when it finished, and not a moment sooner. Where is the problem?

I have one and it works very well. my gps in phone stopped working. no jailbreak necessary for this model, some other ones do require a jailbreak i think. Thats why i went with the xGPS. backup iPad to PC I can't believe Apple got a patent for something as generic as rows of icons with rounded corners and a fix bar of icons at the bottom. So tomorrow if Apple comes up with widgets or multiple homescreens on iOS, then should Google and Android handset manufacturers sue Apple for this? Seems just about as plausible as this lawsuit.
