Post Applications vs Mobile Web Applications

Recently, Google released a revamped version of their web-based Google Voice application. And, more specifically, they updated it to make it work a lot better for mobile web browsers. That probably has a lot to do with the fact that Google's service isn't in the App Store proper, but who knows. Either way, the mobile web-based application works great, and it's not the only one out there.

Simply put, as we mentioned in the article just posted, mobile web applications are on the rise. That has a lot to do with the fact that people are browsing the web a lot more on their mobile phones. Truthfully, that has a lot (almost everything) to do with the iPhone.

So, what does that mean for Apple's App Store? Are we going to see a decline in apps downloaded? Or, can there be a perfect balance between application stores such as the App Store, Android Market, and webOS' iteration, and the applications designed to run solely on the mobile web?

Be sure to watch for our Q&A with Taptu's CEO Steve Ives, as we discuss the widespread popularity of mobile web, the applications sprouting from that expansion, and what it all means for the future of applications on every platform.

It's a no brainer - 100% native apps.

I agree that native applications are great, but for the most part, I think I might draw that line with the entertainment types. Sure, there a load of apps out there that help function as well, but as a media device like the iPod Touch, I think works best with games. Services like Google Voice works fantastic with the mobile web application. It's lacking a few features that are found on Android-based devices, like notifications, but for what it is, it works great.

I think there should be a happy balance found. I do not believe, though, that web applications should be developed only because they are denied from an application store.

I would like to buy the iPad, but it would clarify whether I can use it to read only books I've bought from Apple??There are for example?, Download possibilities of visual libraries eBooks, which then automatically delete after so many weeks.?Can you read the words on his or Apple iPad off because (again )...? Greetings and Thanks in advance =)? converting vob to wmv The iPad version would need to offer significant advantages over the iphone version I already use on my iPad, to justify the repurchase. Also, it doesn't work for me often enough for me to even remember that it is an option, most of the time. I will give it another shot, though.
