Is the iPad the Future of Mobile Gaming?

When Apple was sending out invitations for the iPad announcement, they made sure to include the major gaming ventures. From developers, to the sites that cover the major gaming news. They made sure that everyone knew they were positioning the upcoming iPad as a gaming platform to be reckoned with.

But did they hit that mark?

EA showed off one game, Need for Speed: Shift, and that was it. While everyone knew the implications were there: gaming is possible. In fact, more than possible. If the iPod Touch can be successful at it, then a mobile device with a bigger screen could be primed as the next big thing (in gaming). Especially once developers start creating apps specifically for the iPad.

But what about the other mobile gaming platforms? The PSP. The DS. Both Sony and Nintendo have come out since the announcement of the iPad and stated they are generally not threatened by the new Apple device.

But what do you think? Should they be? What if we could get games like God of War on the iPad? Or other First Person Shooters to rock those 9.7" screens?The fact the iPod Touch has great titles already just means there aren't limitations to what developers can do for the iPad's gaming potential.

I feel that it is so sad that know that Gefen was hounded tormented because of his fame. However, it was the allegations and rumors that tormented him. To me the saddest part is that he shared his beautiful gift with the world; although he had to live his life own in isolation.

To be fair, considering the numbers they need to produce, they could be doing far worse. I suppose next time they could have even MORE suppliers exclusively making iPad/iPhone parts and nothing else.
