iPad and Verizon: Still Meant to Be?
Rumors are a big part of the industry. A big part of any industry, where official announcements don't come as quickly as everyone would like them to. And when it comes to Apple, rumors are almost just as essential (at least in the news posting part of it) as the official announcements. It's no secret that Apple feeds on the rumors, just as every company does, because that means their company is in the mind's of people all over the place. More so than on any normal day, perhaps.
With that being said, the Verizon Wireless rumor just won't die. But then again, why should it? Considering Verizon hasn't been quiet about the fact their network is capable of handling the extra load that an Apple product would inevitably bring, these rumors probably make perfect sense to most people.
Not to mention, there's plenty of people out there who are just waiting for an iPhone to make it to Verizon, before they make their smartphone switch.
But, what about the iPad? With the announcement that the Apple tablet would be "locked" to AT&T (yes, the devices are unlocked, but with the usage of AT&T 3G and MicroSIM cards, they might as well be locked), there were a lot of shocked people. Why not make a GSM- and CDMA-based tablet, and reap the rewards? Yes, the iPhone still has that exclusivity agreement hounding it, but the iPad certainly doesn't.
According to rumors still making their way around the Internet, Verizon and Apple are still in talks to bring the iPad to their network some time in the future. Does that mean this year? Who knows. Would putting a new tablet, such as the iPad, on Verizon Wireless' 3G network be smart, when LTE is (essentially) right around the corner?
What do you think? Would you rather have the iPad right now on Verizon, or would you want to wait for an LTE-based iPad?
